Mr B has been a massive influence on my and my family's life ever since 1964/65 when firstly my uncle and then shortly after my dad went to work for what was then Bacci & Bacci . SVH became my dad's life and thanks to Mr B , he had a good and fulfilling one and he was extremely proud of his association with Mr & Mrs B . He and Mr B became close friends. In the days when SVH was not the huge business it is today, every Friday night Mr B would give my dad or one of the lads , usually Ronnie, money and a gang of us would go to the nearby Knowsley and celebrate pay day with a few pints on Mr B. Every Saturday lunchtime Mr B would despatch someone to get lunch ( no Deliveroo in those days ) and we would feast on Mortadella , Salami and other meats or proper Kentucky Fried Chicken. Also in the days before computers, when everything was handwritten, every month or so ,after closing, a group of workers including Mr B, would do a vehicle stock take and hire agreement check. Mr B would be on fire, especially if he found a customer was still being charged for a vehicle they had returned or even worse , they were NOT being charged for one they had ! Stock take completed Mr B would then often take us all to the Bell Waldron restaurant . The food was wonderful but the biggest thrill for me was that , thanks to Mr B , I got to meet my idol Colin Bell. I have known Mr B and his family for what seems like forever. Mr B has always been supportive of me , he has always given me advice and assistance when I needed it ( and also the occasional rollocking when I deserved it ! ). I smile thinking of our phone calls which , after telling me about something that needed to be done , Mr B would simply end by saying "......QUICK " . Throughout my teenage / college years I worked at SVH during vacations. After graduation i tried something else which didnt work out . I remember seeing Mr (& Mrs B) in his office and Mr B said to me "I will be good for you and I think you will be good for me " ( obviously I agreed with the latter ) . Well, Mr B you certainly kept your side of the bargain I hope I kept mine. RIP
